Subject:    Human Rights

No body from the Canadian media did brought to our attention the report that presented two weeks ago from Mrs. Robinson-the head of the international commissions of human rights- to the UN secretary general condemning what she called the lies and the aggressions of the Israeli government in there respond to the frustration of the Palestinian people.

Less then two years ago the same person from the same position presented her report concerning what was going on in East Timor, at that time all the media presented her report and the international community did not stop their pressure until the Indonesian government accept the international force to defend those poor people in East Timor.

It is the same, but the only different is that the accused here is Israel and all the media treat them a special treatment, for no justified reason.

I do not understand the hesitation of the entire world and how they are not able to stop this aggression against 3 million people in their occupied land "west bank and Gaza" in addition to one million Arab live in 1947 boarder.

Can any body present a justified difference between what is going on against the Palestinian people and what happened in Bosnia, Kosovo, Kuwiet, East Timor,…etc

I would like to thank you in behalf of humanity for your coverage of the news, but please be fair you will be judged not only today or tomorrow but also for hundreds years to come.

Report on the Canadian Government Position form the Palestinian rights Report by: Mohamed Kamel

Report on the Canadian Government Position form the Palestinian rights

Report by: Mohamed Kamel

Nov 10, 2000

1. Part I (Introduction)

(If you follow what is going in Middle East go to part II directly)

People of all the world watched the political games and the using of the Palestinian authority by the Israeli government without any respond to that, at that time we did wrote "Dream of Peace", and no body listen. –Copy attached-

After a long period of political games by the Israeli government and the negative attitude from the rest of the world specially Arabs and Muslims countries, the Palestinian people did not found any outing from this frustration situation and the hopeless that surrounded the Palestinian people and the international peace.

After all that, the last Intifada broken out as a result of this problem and as a direct result form the provocation by the Israeli government when they allow and protect the visit of the known killer Sharon to the Alaqsa site (guarding him with 2000 solders).

All of us watched the killing of the children and the demonstrations of the force by the Israeli government in front of the stone thrower the only weapon the ordinary Palestinian have in there hand in front of Jews settlers whom are well armed and occupied and enjoyed living on the Palestinian land for more then 33 years following the 1967 occupation of the remain part of Palestine. Through all the negotiations, the Palestinian were blamed for not accepting the offers from the Israeli government as if they have to accept whatever offered to them or ells been killed or at least be blamed "Blaming the victim".

The Security consul of the UN met and agreed after a few days of negotiations to soften the resolution so USA will not veto it but let it pass, all the world welcomed the resolution and 14th of the 15th member of the security council approved and USA did not have the courage to veto, Canada was among the country that vote for the resolution.

Part II: Canadian Government and Parties

(If you follow what is going in Canada go to part III directly)

What ever happened on the other parts of the world, what happened in Canada is completely not acceptable, the Jews started a big black mailing campaign against the Canadian government "Liberal Party of Canada" specially while the general election been called, and they started a big campaign to offset the affect in the Canadian Point of view specially with that the media created by passing on little information about what is going on in the West Bank and Gaza.

The opposition's parties took different positions starts from the far right the Canadian Alliance who's Leader Mr. Stockwell Day the candidate in the ridding of Okanagan--Coquihalla, British Columbia, attacked the Government for not supporting Israel the only correct choice for the Christine people.

On the other hand to the left the New Democratic Party and it is leader Ms. Alexa McDonough the candidate in the ridding of Halifax, Nova Scotia attacked the Canadian Government for not giving enough support to the Palestinian people, and considering this resolution by the UN Security Council was very soft, and not a real action.

In addition to all type of lies that been passed through the media there were some Jews whom decided - an extend- to be honest to and accepted the rights of the Palestinian to be frustrated and blamed the Israeli government not the victim (Palestinian).

One of these attacks came from Mr. Irwin Cotler from Liberal Party and a candidate for the ridding of Mount Royal, Quebec, who is a Jew and member of the parliament, Mr Cotler attacked the party position and even attacked the prime minister for supporting the UN Security Council resolution.

This issue did not pass without respond from 5 honest well-informed Members of Parliament:

Mr. Mark Assad from the Liberal Party ridding of Gatineau, Quebec
Mr. Yvon Charbonneau from the Liberal Party ridding of Anjou--Rivière-des-Prairies, Quebec
Mr. Sarkis Assadourian from the Liberal Party ridding of Brampton Centre, Ontario
Ms. Colleen Beaumier from the Liberal Party ridding of Brampton West--Mississauga, Ontario
Mr. Joe Fontana from the Liberal Party ridding of London North Centre, Ontario

Their respond was very strong in a statement wandering from Mr. Cotler and dose he belong actually to Canada and to whom, and how a Canadian who suppose to be a human right activist do support the Israeli government in its aggression and continue occupation of the Palestinian lands and refusing them any rights for more then 52 years.

Muslim and Arabs community in addition to Quebeker and Canadian peace lovers (include some Jews), and I am reporting for Montreal, did moved ahead and organized many succeeded activity, marshes from Concordia university, McGill university, not only student but collective of students and all other men, women and children, people among them you never thought that they can go out in political marshes numbers riches 10 thousands in one of the demonstrations, other big demonstrations that included people from Montreal and Ottawa rally in front the Canadian parliament November 5th, 6 weeks after the start of the aggression against Palestinian, this demonstration was very important for many reasons:
  • To prove that the people uprising Intefada still active not as the media started to put it in the shadow.
  • To call upon the Canadian government not to accept black mailing from the Jews.
  • Prof to the media and Jews that they are very week in front of the well of the people.
  • Remind people of Canada with what we will never forget, Belford declaration to Jews (he was the minister of the foreign affaire of Britain) in November 2nd,1917, when he promise them a home land in Palestinian land as if there were no people over there.

The Canadian government accepted black mailed from Jews and abstain from voting for two resolutions passed by majority, one in front UN General Assembly and the other in front the International Human Right Commission.

Part III: Meeting with a Jew MP

In response to that and because we are in middle of an election campaign, Muslim, Arabs and peace lovers  decided to contact some candidates to explore their position form this issue.

One of the stories, a meeting organized personally with Mr. Jacques Saada from the Liberal Party, candidate in Brossard--La Prairie, Quebec, he is already a MP and he is a Jew from Tunis whom been supported in the last election almost 4 years ago, by all Arab and Muslim.

On Sunday November 5th, 2000 I did call Mr Saada and E-mail  him, the following message

"Hi Mr. Saada;
I found that it is very important at this moment to write to you, we do know each other for good time and we knew that each of us will stand for what he believe that it is the right and fair without any calculation could switch the positions according to any political reasons, you and me we understand that the person is for what he/she is standing for.
Mr. Saada, after all what happened from Mr. Cotler MP in opposing the fair and just position from the Liberal Government by voting for the UN Security Council resolution that condemned the Israeli aggression against the people that the Israeli are the direct reason for their suffering.
After this position from Mr. Cotler in considering Israel is his first choice over the Canadian standard, five of the Liberal MPs have spoken against him. It was a surprise to me that you were not one of them.
As my MP in the Canadian Parliament, I did support and work for him last election, and the candidate of my chosen party “ The Liberal Party of Canada”, and as a person I knew for good time. I am writing to you hoping that we could be able to have few minutes together, discussing this issue and may be others,
Mr. Saada, I will wait your call or your organizer call, it will be my pleasure to meet you as your time permit."

Meeting was arranged and I try my best to writ from the memory at the same meeting date, I try to be accurate as possible.

I started with introducing why I am here as I indicated in the e-mail:

I found that it is very important at this moment and for the first time to discuss issue together, we do know each other for good time and we knew that each of us will stand for what he believe, after what happened from Mr. Cotler in opposing the fair and just position from the Liberal Government by voting for the UN Security Council resolution condemning the Israeli aggression against the people that the Israeli are the direct reason for their suffering, five of the Liberal MPs have spoken against him. It was a surprise to me that you were not one of them, why?

Mr. Saada:  I will tell you why, because I believe in peace and I believe that all wars never brought to the Palestinian people any peace and if all the world left them to negotiate in peace with Israel they will have there home land, I think the resolutions will never solve anything and will never advance the issue, their were to close to achieve something in Camp David but Arabs countries pressuring Mr. Arafat not to accept any compromise because it is not for the interest of some of Arab countries to achieve peace, if this resolution condemned violence from both sides I would support it.

I responded: I cannot understand what peace you are speaking about? What violence you are speaking about? Who killed those children, who have weapons, planes, rockets and tanks? Who killed who and how occupied whom land? Do you support the killing of those children?

Mr. Saada:  I do not support the killing of any person the killing of the child (refer to Mohamed Al Doura), make me shocking. I did not believe that, but who send those children to the front line, and who released the killer of Hamas from the prisons.

I responded: I cannot understand what you are speaking about, do you think that the kid who died few days ago from poison gas thrown by the Israeli solders, she was 23 days old! Did her parent sent her to throw stones, do you think that those children have any save place to be in, and that is make different if they are in the street or at home they are been killed for 52 years, there is no different.

Is any body think of what those professional solders did? They killed the kid "Al Doura" and killed the driver of the ambulance car, did any body thought of bringing them to justice even in Israel, but when two professional solders killed by angry Palestinian in Ramallah, the Israeli army have the right to brought them and do what ever they have to do.

Do you think that those people whom their land is occupied, have no right to defend themselves according to the international laws and basic principal, when the nazis occupied France all the world defend the French right do the self defence, when Iraq attacked Kuwait all the world fought for, why not the Palestinian have the same right?

Mr. Saada: There is a very big different, on those cases there were no negotiation, but in this case we have Oslo accord to negotiate for homeland for the Palestinian but Arab countries do not need them to accept any compromise. Barak offered them some thing they will not be offered by some body else.

I responded:  what offer? Do you think that if I occupied your home we will be sitting down together as we are now? Are we going to negotiate and compromise for a room or part of the home?

Mr. Saada:  Of course not, but we are setting together speaking about this issue, why they can not?

I responded:  that is because we are in Canada, we live in peace and have homes, those people do not have any thing; no home, no identity, no future, not even able to dream of any kind of future, if we are in Palestine we will never be setting in this luxury to discuses what we are discussing now, do you know how those people leaving and under what condition?

Mr. Saada:  I know and Mr. Cotler knew, he was in Israel and he was one of the lawyers of the Palestinian representing theme and defending there rights, and I went there in the west bank and I knew what is the filling of those people, they live in a very bad situation and pass the gate to work where are people live in luxury and have every thing, then return to where there is nothing. I understand that, but the war is not the solution, violence is not the solution

I responded:  To what extend you think those people can live like this, with no hope, just waiting offers from Israeli government, and what is the limit of what they can accept and what not, do you think from the international law it is acceptable that occupier gain from his aggression and from the occupation.

Mr. Saada:  Of course not, but there should be compromises, when Sadat make peace with Israel it return the Egyptian land, that what was Peres was locking for, and what Rabin was locking for, we have to give them chance. You know that Jerusalem is a very sensitive issue, what they do not share it in any percentage? Let us leave the Palestinian and Israeli to negotiate together do not interfere but to encouraging them, and that is what Canada should do. Do you think I accept that one as Gadafi should have say in the Jerusalem future, its Israeli and Palestinian issue.

I responded:  it is every one issue and we are not setting here to solve the problem just like this, and unless there is full implementation for UN resolutions there will not be peace, and no peace could be achieved without justice.

Mr. Saada:  I am for Palestinian state and Palestinian rights but not for violence,

At that time his campaign organizer (who was hearing from distance this closed door discussion) came to remind him that people waiting him, and mentioned that this issue is hot for them the Quebekers also and it is not fair to let those people leaving like this.

I responded:  it is actually not fair and as Jacques said they go to work where people have every thing and they have nothing, but he did not mention that those people (the Israeli) lives on the land they took it e Palestinian.

We end the discussion and he asked me to not forget the 27th (the election date) I responded saying of course I will never forget this day, looking to his eye we understand each other but we agreed to stay in touch for future conversation.

I left disappointed, and we Muslim and Arab in Canada have to calculate the next step, I am sure that I will not vote for him, but how far we can go, let us think for the coming two weeks and do something in the upcoming years, I believe that this issue is not days or months issue, it is a long term issue and we will never loss hope or retrieve from any field up to achieving our gaol, which is fairness and justice, it is very clear to all of us.
