In the spirit of Dr. King: Good night Tom Hundall

Mr. Block;

In reference to your article “Anti-Israel comments mar King tribute Two Jewish leaders walk out in protest over editor's speech” I have some comments; but before that let me underline a reality that when we celebrate people like King, we celebrate to teach ourselves how to act in the present and the future, to learn from the past not to cry the past.

  1. Who walk out was “Israel's consul-general in Montreal” and I understand that he is a foreigner diplomatic not a Jewish leader, there is a big different between Jew and Israeli.
  2. I did not see the real quote that upset the Israel's consul-general which is a reality, they do not like to hear and they are representing a government that do not like people to hear the truth.
  3. After what he did and what his colleague the Israeli ambassador to Sweden did last week, that leave me wonder, they should be “professional politician”! They can not accept the truth, so they are acting in barbaric way, nothing new! look at the daily terrorism they are practicing in Palestine for 60 years.
    If they are reacting in this manner against freedom of speech, what a Palestinian people would act like when he see their killer everyday in the street enjoying their land and resources?
In spite that what you said at the end of the article is represent the reality, I wonder why you did not mention what Yahya said in his speech, are you afraid that people would know the truth, let me remind you of what he said:
“I would like to make a brief tribute to someone many of you have not heard of. His name is Tom Hurndall.
Tom Hurndall was a British Photographer. He was also a peace activist working with the International Solidarity Movement in Palestine, a group which, in the spirit of Dr. King, participates in non violent resistance against a brutal military occupation currently being heaped upon the Palestinian people.
Last April, Tom, who was only 22 years old, was shot in the head by an Israeli sniper in Gaza while he was shepherding young children out of the line of fire. He finally died on January 14th after spending 9 months in a vegetative state.”
That proof what Yahya said to you, you mention it in your article:
"If other people were offended by it, it just proves my point - that sometimes people who espouse liberal values, when it rubs them the wrong way, it reveals their liberalism doesn't go very deep at all."
Let me close with that famous quote:

“You can fool some of the people all the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you cannot fool all of the people all the time”
